Synopsis

The purpose of this study was to evaluate methane emissions in Wagyu steers at the "El Oriental" hut in Mercedes, using the Laser Methane Detection. Data were collected from 32 animals fed wet and dry diets, including the addition of lipids. Analysis of variance and Tukey tests were applied using the MIXED and GLM procedures in the SAS program for statistical analysis. The results indicated that Wagyu steers fed wet diets showed significant differences in methane production, measured in ppm/m, compared to those fed dry diets, supporting the hypothesis stated.
